The 365 Names of God

I remember I used to have these conversations with friends who were either atheist, agnostic, or believing but not understanding and therefore doubting, and would ask me questions like, "So why is there evil in the world?" " Why do the innocent suffer?" "Why is there a hell if He is a God of Love?" and "Why does God insist on being worshipped so much? Why is He so power hungry??"

The more I understand who God is the more I understand why it is an injustice not to worship Him, who did so much for us, and laid His life down to rescue us from death. Now I know why it is a sin to fear and to doubt and to be anxious! It's all a result of not understanding who He is.

God inhabits the praises of His people. Another secret to praise and worship is it is the sound of battle - it's the means by which God fights for His people. Remember the fall of Jericho? The Israelites marched around the wall praising God, and on the third day it was destroyed. Worship and praise is also the means by which God exhales the glory. In the midst of praise and worship the most miracles happen.

Remember the Names of God. In His character is our salvation and inheritance. We have access to all that He is:

JEHOVAH-JIREH  - "The Lord our provider"

JEHOVAH-NISSI  - The Lord is my banner.

JEHOVAH-SHALOM The Lord is my peace.

JEHOVAH-TSID-KENU  Jehovah Tsidkenu - The Lord is righteousness.

JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH "The One Who is with us everywhere for He is Omnipresent"

JEHOVAH-SABAOTH "The Lord of Hosts, our Protector."

JEHOVAH-ROHI  - "Jehovah is my shepherd...."

JEHOVAH RAPHA  The Lord, my healer.

Jehovah M'Kaddesh - The Lord who sanctifies

Jehovah Elyon - The Lord Most High, supreme God and deliverer

Jehovah Gmolah - The God of Recompense

Jehovah Mishpat - Our Justice

Jehovah Chesed - God the merciful

Jehovah Magen - The Lord our shield

Jehovah  Nigad - the Lord who foretells the future

Jehovah Ahavah - the Lord is Love

Jehovah Elohim - the All Powerful

Jehovah Qanna - the Lord is a jealous lover

Jehovah Olam - the Everlasting God

Jehovah Hayah - the Lord is Self Sufficient

Jehovah Kadosh - the Holy God

Jehovah El Shaddai - Mighty, Omnipotent God

Jehovah Or - God of Light

Jehovah Kavod - the Splendorous One, the Glory of the Lord

But still, I pushed it further. If God is all these, and in Christ, I have access to all that God is, does that mean I will become a billionaire? Will never get sick? Will never get into an accident? Will trample all my enemies at my feet? Will never ever have a problem ever again?

I've come to understand that is not the case. This is not the correct mindset if we truly understand who God is.

The more we grow in the Lord, the more the Holy Spirit leads me to understand that being strong in the Lord is not about the prosperity gospel.

The highest understanding of who God is and relating it to who we are and what our situation is means knowing that we and all we love can be greatly blessed beyond measure

persecuted, humiliated, tortured, betrayed, put to hardship, bombed, spat upon, raped, exiled, killed....

...all the wickedness that this world and the Enemy can throw at us....

and come out victorious, healed, and triumphant in the end. Because God has the power to raise us, even from the dead.

If you, Christian, can understand that...well if you don't you must. This is one of the things I've struggled with, for as long as I've become a Bible believing Christian. But this is the core of what true belief is. It will test your faith. We will experience both goodness and plenty and persecution and want. True faith is enduring to the end no matter what the circumstance.

God is God after all. He demands the highest and purest form of obedience and trust.

How much do you believe the Lord, who is able to protect you and put a hedge around you, and in the same breath, can lift that hedge and allow you to be subjected to the full wrath of the enemy, knowing that He is with you through it all, and that He can lift you up again in glory and eternal life?

Let the Shekinah Glory come when you worship God today!
